Description: Standing tall on the plinth of the old fountain at the top of the High Street, ‘Beacon’ provides a tactile surface for the visually impaired to learn about the flora that can be found around Bracknell in a single day. Plants that have been cast into the surface are ones that Lemon and a team of specialists collected in the 9 Sites of Specific Scientific Interest that lie in Bracknell. Running on solar panel, the area has a soft illuminated glow that guides you to the beginning of the High Street at night. Commissioned by Art Management, ‘Beacon’ is a part of the Public Art Strategy for Bracknell Town Centre and compliments various works by Lemon that can be seen throughout the High Street.
