Description: A life-size figure stands wearing modern Osprey combat and body armour stand watch over Sheet Street, Windsor. The soldier is a modern soldier, athletic and hardened, poised for action and ready to see through an untold mission. The statue doubles up as a memorial for the Irish Guardsmen of the past, present and future. The bronze itself was bought back from Iraq where it was salvaged from statues damaged during the conflict. Surrounding the plinth, the cobbled stones have also travelled from Afghanistan, bringing back a part of the history and the conversation of conflict with them.
